Loss Flower Zero Project

Sapporo Convention Bureau has launched the Loss Flower Zero Project, a sustainable initiative, which aims to ensure that flowers used in business events are not simply discarded as waste, but instead given new life in other settings.

At the reception venue for the ASEANTA Annual General Meeting held in Sapporo in May 2024, an imaginative space was created using flora native to Hokkaido, evoking a sense of nature and earning high praise from attendees.

The vibrant flowers that adorned the reception were not discarded after the event. Instead, they were reused the following day as part of the floral arrangements at another venue. Additionally, some flowers were delivered to hospitals and childcare facilities within Sapporo, where they were repurposed for floral arrangements or used as craft materials for children's creative activities.

Flowers play an essential role in business events, enhancing the decor and creating an atmosphere that leaves a lasting impression. This initiative not only helps to reduce waste through repurposing but also generates new value. It contributes to the organizing company's CSR efforts, provides an opportunity to connect business events with the local community, and can even be incorporated into visitor activities during their stays. Moving forward, we will continue to promote Sapporo as a sustainable city to both domestic and international guests.
