| The New Chitose Airport, which is the gateway to Hokkaido,
is on Pacific and northbound European routes, which are
the main arteries for international airline routes, and is
the closest airport in Japan to Asia, North America and Europe.
It is close to the main capitals of Asia with direct flights
of about 5 hours from Taipei and about 3 hours from Seoul.
The direct flight service to Cairns, Australia has started
in November of 2004, so the world is getting closer and
closer.
